Annual Holiday Luncheon Honors the Legacy of Senior Advocate Joan Turner
Joan Frazier Turner (January 12, 1946 – July 17, 2020), a former Program Manager for the City of Jacksonville, FL, dedicated her life to advocating for seniors.
Each year, seniors from various neighborhood centers across Duval County celebrate at the Annual Senior Thanksgiving Luncheon, held at North Jacksonville Baptist Church. More than 300 seniors, dignitaries, and volunteers gather to honor the spirit of senior-hood and give thanks for the blessings of another year.
Attendees enjoy a traditional Thanksgiving meal, entertainment, and heartfelt tributes to Joan Turner's lasting legacy. Her work in organizing luncheons, health fairs, and activities aimed at enhancing the lives of seniors continues to inspire the community. The event serves as a testament to Turner's dedication and passion, with each year carrying forward her vision of celebrating seniors and promoting healthy, active living.
All attendees receive gifts as part of this annual celebration, which brings seniors from across Duval County together for a day of gratitude and camaraderie.
